All shoulders, baby, all the time!

The exceedingly rare all-upper-body yin class.

First half of class will be “closed shoulders” and the second half will be “open shoulders”

Start with a variation of childs pose with preying mantis arms: elbows on blocks, palms together and reaching behind the head toward the nape of the neck.

Follow with 2 variations of Thread The Needle: first traditional, on hands and knees, hips above the knees, thread one arm through and lower to the shoulder. Reach the other arm out long over head, or reach around the back for the opposite hip crease.

Second variation some call Sleeping Owl. Lie on your belly. Thread your left arm across your body and lie on it. Right arm reaches over head, palm face down. Rest your head on a blanket if you like. Do both sides.

Transition into Open Shoulders with a variation of Frog called Hug The World: start on your belly, and goal post your arms. Then draw your right knee toward your right elbow and your left knee to your left elbow until you feel something.

Flip over onto your back. We’ll be on our backs for the rest of class.

Now a variation of Suppine Butterfly with Cow Face Arms. Lie on your back, draw the soles of your feet together, and let your knees fall open. Reach your right arm overhead, bend at the elbow and place your hand behind your shoulder blades, palm face up. Swim your left hand up behind your back, palm face down, reaching for the spot between your shoulder blades. Do both sides.

Chest expansion as normal, corpse as normal.
